Project Update

by Amy Feller

Feller Contracting and Cutting Edge Cabinets joined forces to bring new life to this beloved 1950’s home. The goal was to update the kitchen for the family while paying homage to the home's history and charm.

The clients' vision was clear from the start: they wanted a modern update while preserving the essence of their family home. Their old kitchen was small, dark and lacked counter space for cooking and entertaining. This kitchen is very typical of what we see in this era of home and there are a few key things we were able to do that really opened up this space.

Removing the soffits and upper cabinets at the peninsula, along with taking the new cabinets to the ceiling make this space feel open and inviting. We enlarged the doorway out of the kitchen to the entry and got rid of a pantry closet to open up more space for the fridge. The clients chose new hardwood floors woven into their existing to match. Utilizing one flooring that ties into other rooms makes the kitchen feel bigger and more cohesive.

The green cabinets were a thoughtful choice to compliment kitchen's classic appeal. Quartz countertops, a farmhouse apron sink and a rubbed bronze faucet added a touch of sophistication. The kitchen's peninsula is now a focal point, offering a cozy spot for the kids to enjoy breakfast or share a quiet moment after the little ones went to bed. The bay window seat was refinished, giving Lola the dog her favorite spot back in action.

The backsplash is simple yet elegant with a combination of grey and white tiles. On the opposite side of the kitchen, Cutting Edge Cabinets designed a beautiful pantry wall. Two full-size pantry cabinets offered abundant storage, and a unique wallpaper backsplash gives a fun pop of color and a nod to the floral wall paper in the old kitchen.

This cherished family home had been in the client's family for 60 years, carrying with it a legacy of love, laughter, and togetherness. The renovation journey was not just about transforming a kitchen; it was about honoring the past, celebrating the present, and ensuring a bright future for generations to come.

Contractor's Corner

by Dusty Feller

Are you thinking about remodeling your kitchen? Do you just need a refresh or a full-blown remodel??

A refresh typically involves making small changes, such as updating the flooring, the faucet, a fresh coat of paint on the walls or cabinets and new drawer pulls. This is generally less expensive and time-consuming compared to a full remodel.

A full-blown remodel might include changing the kitchen's layout, which can be more costly and time-consuming due to moving water and gas lines and updating electrical.

This kind of remodel may require more planning, but it can completely transform the kitchen's functionality and appearance.

When planning a kitchen remodel, it's important to consider various factors. The BIG 3 things you want to focus on are Cabinets, Countertops and Appliances. These three things are the overall design and layout of the kitchen and are going to be your longer lead time items. Lead times can play a big role in your schedule and decisions.

Cabinets can have a lead time of 8 to 12 weeks. Appliances can also have longer lead times. There are typically options readily available but your selection is more limited.

Proper planning is crucial for a smooth and efficient remodeling process. The process typically includes several stages, including demo, plumbing & electrical rough-in, drywall, paint, flooring, cabinets, countertops, and final trim and fixture install.

It's important to have a schedule and walkthrough with your contractor to understand when certain decisions need to be made to keep the project on track.

One last thing to note - there are options for every budget and circumstance. From budget friendly to dream kitchen, you can completely transform or make small tweaks to bring out your inner Chef. Explore your options today!
